This piece began as an exercise in process: layered colour, glazes and marks to coax life from a forest floor at first light. The result is abstract but intentional: pockets of brightness that read as leaves, shadow and soil, and subtle textures that suggest moisture. It’s less a depiction than a record of discovery, the painting as a way of looking closely and capturing what I see.
