Painted from a photograph taken at Cherai beach in Kerala, this was one of the first paintings I completed. It surprised me by actually working. I focused on the atmosphere over exact detail, letting washes and marks carry the feeling of that evening rather than its literal facts. The result is a quiet sunset: familiar and entirely about the light that held the moment together.
